Moigne Combe
MOIGNE COMBE: Private airstrip (Aka WARMWELL)
Note: Probably known by another name locally of course, but I have selected this as it is the nearest sizeable habitation listed on modern maps.
The first two pictures were obtained from Google Earth©, and the local area view is from my Google Earth© derived database.
Location: Just SW of Moigne Combe, roughly 4nm SW of the large Bovington Camp Army base, and about 5.75nm ESE of Dorchester town centre
Period of operation: 2025 to -
Runway: 03/21 410 grass (Marker boards placed with extra turning circles at both ends)
NOTES: We have Mr Graham Frost, a long term friend of this 'Guide', to thank for providing this location. Although this 'Guide' is basically historical, Graham is determined to try and drag me into the 21st century. And how in this case! He is a very keen viewer of a gizzmo that provides radar tracking flight information, and found this on the 13th October 2025. It showed the Aeroprakt A32M Vixen, G-LIFB, circling around to land on this airstrip.
But, here's the thing, G-LIFB was registered to its present owner, living in Dorset, on the 6th October 2025! So, will it be based here? It is purely conjecture on my part but zooming in on Google Earth© there does appear to be a hangar? If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be most welcome.
Graham, bless him, also poses the question regarding if this can be a "World Record"? Namely the new location being identified, together with an aircraft landing, and it being included so quickly into a 'Guide', or similar, giving details of flying sites in the UK. This listing being made on the 13th October 2025.
