NORMANDY FARM: Temporary Landing Ground (Aka HILLMORTON and RUGBY)

Location: Very roughly equidistant between the A428 and A5(T), just ENE of Hillmorton and about 3nm E to ESE of Rugby town centre
This was the first landing Claude Grahame-White made, after taking off from PARK ROYAL in West London in his first attempt to win the Daily Mail London to Manchester Air Race. On this first stage he broke the UK distance record, flying non-stop for 83 miles. In the event it was won by the French aviator Louis Paulhan.
