I have the Airfields of Britain Conservation Trust to thank for helping to pinpoint this location.




 

Military users: RFC/RAF   (Royal Flying Corps / Royal Air Force)

37[Home Defence] Sqdn   (Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.12, possibly later Sopwith Camels)

Note:  To date I have been unable to discover what other types 37 Squadron flew. Advice will be most welcome.

 

Location: In/near North Benfleet, S of the A127, 1.5nm NE from Pitsea railway station, roughly 3 to 4nm E to ENE of Basildon town centre

Period of operation: 1916 to 1919
 

Site area: 37 acres     274 x 503
