Old Hay
OLD HAY: Private airfield
Note: All six of these pictures were obtained from Google Earth ©
Location: Roughly 1.5nm E of Paddock Wood
Period of operation: 1980s (?) to -
Runways: 1990: 10/28 380 grass
Note: The first picture above does seem to indicate such a runway here.
From 2003: 10/28 670 grass 02/20 500 grass
Note: Was/is there also a 11/29 runway 460 metres long, leasing down SE from the hangar, or was/is this used as a taxiway?
NOTES: Base for Fairchild Argus G-BCBH in 2004?
It is well worth reading the AAIB report EW/G2006/01/15 when two aircraft collided when landing in opposite directions; the Casa 1-131E Series 2000 Jungmann G-BECW and a Stolp Starduster SA 100 on the American register as N40D.
It appears micro-lights also use this site, the AAIB report EW/G2011/07/40 gives details of a Thruster T600T 450 Jab, G-BZJD, having an incident. The 2018 detail picture above certainly provides proof.
