Parham

PARHAM: Military aerodrome much later also private airfield (Aka FRAMLINGHAM)

Military users: RFC only?

Location: Nr B1116, in/near Parham, 2nm SE of Framlingham

Period of operation: Military: WW1 only? Civil: 1970s/1980s to -

NOTES: In 1977 it seems only the Cessna F.177RG G-AYPH belonging to Overdraught Aviation, (what a wonderful title for any aviation concern?), was based here. I am assuming quite a bit here of  course….in that the WW1 airfield and the later airstrip on the WW2 locations coincide? In an article in Light  Aviation magazine, (February 2012), it was described how, “We had planned to land at Parham, another ex-wartime airfield where a small strip of the northern taxiway is available to land on. The owners kindly gave us permission to land but warned us that the strip hadn’t been  used for a while.”

This opens up a can of worms. A “northern taxiway” indicates a WW2 airfield, certainly not a  WW1 airfield - I would have thought? A quick search on the web showed that PARHAM was another name for FRAMLINGHAM. For which see the separate listing.
