Park Farm

Note: Some years ago I made this comment:  "This map is simply my guess as to where this site was located, bearing in mind that the extent of Dumfries would have been much smaller in those days. If anybody can either confirm or supply a more exact location, this advice will be most welcome."

In February 2021, Mike Holder, a great friend of this 'Guide', came up with the answers. See below.

Operated by: The Berkshire Aviation Co

Location: Adjoining the A710, (New Abbey Road), near to and S to SSW of Dumfries

Period of operation: 13th May to the 20th ? 1921     (Known as the ‘Dumfries Flying Week’)

NOTES: It seems that Capt O. P. Jones flew the Avro 504K G-EASF into PARK FARM on the 11th May  and, some records say, he carried 894 passengers during this week. However, it appears he stayed for ten days, see newspaper excerpt above, when he logged over 1000 passengers being carried aloft.
