Pencombe

Note: This map only shows the position of Pencombe village within the UK.

PENCOMBE: Private airstrip

Operated by: Mr J Mulroy

Location: Roughly 7nm SE of Leominster

Period of operation: 1990s only?

Runway: E/W   450x30   grass

NOTES: A search around the area on Google Earth in 2017 did not appear to show any signs of an airstrip. And indeed, there weren't many fields as large as 450 metres, in a E/W direction. Nevertheless a search around the inter-web revealed several comments regarding light aircraft being seen, including on the ground. I got the impression that a strip once existed between Pencombe and Bromyard. If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be most welcome.

The aircraft types seen were Auster(s) and possibly a Miles Messenger, both of which are excellent STOL types.
