Knowing General Patton's status, I would not be at all surprised to learn that U S Army engineers laid out a runway suitable for use by aircraft consideraby larger than small liaison types?

Military user: US Third Army HQ
Note: Prior to D-Day this was where General George Patton was based.

Location: E of the A50, just SW of Over Peover, roughly 3nm SSE of Knutsford town centre

Period of operation: 1944/45 only?

NOTES: If anybody knows the types of aircraft which visited, or possiby based here, it will be much appreciated to learn more.
