Priestthorpe Lane
Note: This map only shows a rough estimate of the position. Experience has taught me that a remarkable amount of open spaces which existed around a hundred years ago still exist today - so this a good sign. But, this is all guesswork of course. If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be most welcome.
PRIESTTHORPE LANE: Civil aerodrome
NOTES: It appears that the Berkshire Aviation Company hosted a 'Flying Circus' event at "Priestthorpe Lane Aerodrome" on the Leeds Road, Farsley, from the 17th till the 23rd November 1919.
It is very tempting to imagine they used the WW1 FARSLEY Landing Ground which was operational during 1916 and 1917. But the two don't seem to match up. Experience has also taught me to be very wary of jumping to easy conclusions. And, let's face it - we are only talking about a suitable field here. No permanent infrastructure as such. Perhaps a shed and a windsock - something along those lines.
