Rothesay flying sites
ROTHESAY: Early experimental flying site
Operated by: Mr A B Baird
NOTES: In 1910 it is reported that Mr Baird, a blacksmith from Bute, designed, built and flew a monoplane. A few years ago I’d dismissed this as being very fanciful reporting but today I know better simply because so little is actually known and accurately reported regarding the activities of so many early aviation pioneers. Indeed, over recent years as many more people have taken a deeper interest in the subject, the story of those early years of powered flight seems to require this history being re-written time and time again.
ROTHESAY: Private airstrip

ROTHESAY BAY: Seaplane and Flying Boat Alighting Area
