ROYAL VICTORIA DOCK: One-off epic flight departure site

NOTES: On the 2nd December 1987 Brian Milton took-off from here in a CFM Shadow to fly to Australia. He made it in 59 days, 44 of which were flying days. The story of this flight makes for fascinating reading, often beggaring belief that he managed to survive and cope with the sometimes massive problems encountered.

Without much doubt the microlight fraternity grabbed the opportunity to relive the experiences of the early pioneers. Indeed, this was often their stated aim, in so many ways they do mirror the early days - see BIGGIN HILL (KENT) for info about Eve Jackson.
