Salcombe Estuary
SALCOMBE ESTUARY: Seaplane base, (possibly of a temporary nature?)
NOTES: During WW1, in the later years at least, it appears that RNAS Short 184 seaplanes were based in the SALCOMBE ESTUARY employed mostly on anti U-boat ‘scarecrow’ missions.
I have found no other supporting evidence, nor any description of where these seaplanes were actually moored and serviced. I assume they were based in what is known as Salcombe Harbour? It would seem to make sense, especially in those days.
If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be most welcome.
