Sennybridge

Note: This map only gives the position of Sennybridge village within the UK. The airstrip or airstrips were, without much doubt, on the nearby Army training grounds. If anybody can kindly offer advice about where it or they were situated, this will be much appreciated.

SENNYBRIDGE: Military airstrip/airfield

Military users: British Army AOP Austers and numerous US Army liaison flight units

Location: Near Sennybridge village on the A40, roughly 7nm W of Brecon (Aberhonddu)

Period of operation: 1943 to 1945 only?

NOTES: As this Army base still appears to be operational, I would imagine that much helicopter activity has been taking place for some time. Do the helicopters stay on the area, or are they flying in?

A certain Army unit based just outside Hereford is the major user of this facility. I think their helicopters live at the 'old' RAF Hereford at Credenhill; there are several hangars there.
