SOUTHERNESS: Beach landing site
NOTES: The info regarding this site came from the AAIB report EW/G2016/10/03. This concerned the Pitts S-1S Special G-BXTI which came to grief whilst landing on the sands in October 2016, although another aircraft had landed safely, but nearby, shortly before.
In the report it was noted that the pilot had landed here on previous occasions. So, presumably it is reasonably safe to assume that the sands have been used by local pilots especially, for a number of years?
