Staines

Note:  This map only gives a rough idea of a possible location, showing Chertsey Lane just SW of Staines.

STAINES: Temporary aerodrome?

Operated by: Alan Cobham’s 1933 No.1 Tour of the UK

Location: Chertsey Lane in/near Staines

Period of operation: 8th October 1933

NOTES: This was the last and 158th venue for the No.1 Tour that year. In 1934 the Cobham UK Tour also visited STAINES on the 29th September, (the 155th venue), before ending the tour at MAYLANDS in ESSEX the following day. In 1935 Cobham’s No.1 Tour also visited STAINES on the 5th September. But, did they always use the same site?

If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be most welcome.
