Location:  Just E of the A19/A174 junction, about 1nm SE of Thornaby town centre

Period of operation: Late 1990s(?) to -

NOTES:  Described on the inter-web as a heliport, being a pedantic old sod, I would take issue with this. A heliport in my reckoning has to have at least three clearly marked landing areas. This has just one, so I'd call it a helipad. Argue as you will, but I'm taking a stance on this.

Also, in a similar vein, which County should it be described as being in? The address appears to be that it is in Stockton-on-Tees. Utter rubbish. The U.K. since WW2 has been plagued by cockamammy sub-divisions of our historic Counties, dreamt up usually by people in local government with nefarious tendencies. And, probably, (being kind), purely for convience by local authorities.

This location is in YORKSHIRE, and as any true-blooded Yorkshireman will tell you - "Don't thee forget it lad." I am even reluctant to describe it as being in North Yorkshire. It is very often not realised that all the traditional Counties in the U.K. still exist. Only an Act of Parliament can change them, and as far as I am aware, this has never happened for hundreds of years?
