Military user: RAF Bomber Command           91 Group

OTU [Operational Training Unit]   (Armstrong Whitworth Whitleys & Handley Page Halifaxs)

1501 BAT Flight   (Airspeed Oxfords)

Location: W of B4449, SW of Stanton Harcourt, 5nm W of Oxford

Period of operation: 1940 to 1946

Runways: 05/23   1463x46   hard            17/35   1006x46   hard
                11/29   1006x46   hard

NOTES: Along the way I found it was claimed the Type 12779/41 control tower is still there.

A 'Google' search in 2015 revealed a lot of information and many pictures of existing buildings. But no control tower? Quite a lot of the airfield site is now a lake, a disused gravel pit or similar. However, without too much doubt the SW end of runway 05/23 still exists, and is marked on the first picture. It also seems possible that the northern top end of runway 17/35 still exists?
