Note: This map only shows my guess of where this gliding site was situated. If anybody can kindly confirm this, or provide a more exact position, this advice will be most welcome.

STOKE PARK FARM: Gliding site

Operated by: London Gliding Club   (Their first gliding site)

Location: In Guildford, near the works of R F Dagnall, alongside the River Wey.

Period of operation: Flying commenced on March 16th 1930.

NOTES: It would appear this was the only time they tried to fly from here? As with the DETLING site used shortly before by the Kent Gliding Club, it is hard to imagine less suitable sites being chosen considering the gliders and launch methods?

But, these were early days and much interest was expressed by some very well respected figures in aviation. On that first, (and only day?), Lord Semphill, E C Gordon-England, Capt. Latimer-Needham and Marcus Manton attended the meeting. As did Ashwell-Cooke and Dagnall, the latter having built one of the gliders but who had no idea how to fly it, his attempt ending in a crash.
