STOKENCHURCH: Glider forced landing site

Location:  Just SE of Stokenchurch village and just W of the M40 and B482

Period of operation:   ?

Landing area:  Roughly N/S   540   grass

NOTES:  It appears that the farmer, Mr Brown, is not averse, unlike many, to gliders in difficulty landing on this particular field. I suspect that the gliders who have on occasions used this field are mostly operating out of BOOKER / WYCOMBE AIR PARK.

The Chiltern ridge is of course normally a very fine place, ideal for gliding, but only sometimes and quite quickly, a situation can arise when there is no lift - and a forced landing is inevitable. The glider then has to be disassembled and transported away by road.
