Stony Stratford helipad
STONY STRATFORD: Helipad (Civic amenity?)
Note: Pictures by the author.
NOTES: I now have severe misgivings about giving this site the name of 'STONY STRAFORD' helipad. Today, given the benefit of Google Earth, it should be named BLETCHLEY, or better still, SHENLEY LODGE.
When driving along what was once the A.5 trunk road between Loughton and Stony Stratford in February 2003, I discovered there is a helipad just to the west of this road. Is it possible that this is the "Stirling Maynard Central" helipad listed in the Helicopter Sitefinder by John B Frost?
I believe I am correct in thinking that this is the only helipad in the UK which is notified to motorists and pedestrians by conventional road signs?
