SUTTON: Temporary aerodrome?

 The G.L. Flying Service Avro 548A G-EBIV
The G.L. Flying Service Avro 548A G-EBIV

This picture from a postcard was kindly sent by Mike Charlton who has an amazing collection. See:   www.aviationpostcard.co.uk

NOTES: As is so often said, a picture is worth a thousand words. In this case doubly so at least. I have found, before seeing this picture, nothing relating to a flying site in Sutton.

Without much doubt this aircraft was based elsewhere, and employed on 'joy-ride' operations from the spring to autumn seasons. If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be much appreciated.

The Avro 548A G-EBIV was first registered on the 9th May 1924, and I suspect this picture was probably taken not so long afterwards? It appears that from 13th March 1930 it was registered to Major E G Clerk DSO who based it at SQUIRES GATE, (Blackpool) until it was retired in March 1938.
