Location:  Just N of the WW1 SMOOGRO aerodrome. About 2nm NE of Houton and roughly 6.5nm SW of Kirkwall town centre

NOTES:  We have Mr Graham Frost, a great long-term friend of this 'Guide' to thank for pointing out this possible location? It has always been very much in the nature of this 'Guide' to pose questions rather than always attempting to provide answers. And yes, I often think I'm a bit like a bird setting up for the nesting season - clutching at straws!

Graham tells us that the Taylorcraft Plus D, G-AHSK (ex LB366), was registered to Mr Sydney Bickham (?) from 03.03.49 until 07.08.50, the address being simply Swanbister. But, was it based here? Or indeed, if not, did he often fly in? The large field, (see above), just to the south of Swanbister Farm and House certainly looks suitable for use by a Taylorcraft Plus D. Another obvious question is of course, was this the only time that aviation was committed either here or very nearby? Discounting SMOOGRO naturally.

If anybody can kindly offer advice and information, this will be much appreciated.
