Here again another fine example of a little known venue that Mike Holder, a great friend of this 'Guide', has discovered.
The article was published in the Peterbrough Standard on the 2nd July 1926. The short article appeared. also on the 2nd July, but in the Saffron Walden Weekly News.

NOTES: After WW1 and in the first decade that followed especially, there was a poliferation of small companies formed with the main purpose of making a viable business based around offering joy-rdes to the public. The Southern Counties Aviation Company based at, it appears, BROOKLANDS, being one of them. It appears that they were first based at PORT MEADOW in Oxford before moving to BROOKLANDS in October 1924 and spent much if not most of their time joy-riding on the Isle of Wight during 1925.
It seems that they operated four Avro 504Ks; G-EAAY (ex C724), G-EASG (ex G-EAFX/H6543) which was a re-build after being wrecked in a gale, G-EBJE and G-EBKS. They also operated the Avro 548 G-EBAG as well as, unusually, two Sopwith Gnu's: G-EADB (ex K136) and G-EAGP (ex K163). The company appears to have folded later 1926.
