Brampton

Note: This map only gives the position of Brampton within the UK. If asked to guess the likely location for the Landing Ground I would suggest the present day Cortonwood Retail Park, as so many of these have been built on old airfield sites, which are ideal of course. However, if somebody can kindly provide an exact location, this advice will be much appreciated.

BRAMPTON: Military Landing Ground

Military user: RFC  (royal Flying Corps)

33 [Home Defence] Sqdn   (Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2s & F.E.2s)

Location: Brampton is on the A6023, roughly 2.5nm WNW of Mexborough, 5nm N of Rotherham

Period of operation: 1916 to 1917
