Operated by:  Mr Arthur Frank Eayrs

Location:  E of the A6003, just N to N/E of Manton village, below (S) of the SW end of Manton Bay on Rutland Water, and about 2.5nm SE to SSE of Oakham town centre

Period of operation:  Perhaps just from February 1948 to August 1949?

Runway:  Possibly?    07/25   540   grass
Note:  This is based on the position of the trees seen today, and the obvious gaps. So, who knows, are these recent trees, or were they there in the late 1940s?

NOTES:  We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', for pointing out this location.

Mr Eayrs had the Miles M11A Whitney Straight, G-AEUZ, registered to this address from 28.02.48 until 15.08.49. No "Usual Station" was given. So, presumably he had a hangar to keep it in, as Miles aircraft, being mostly of wood and fabric construction, are most definitley not suitable for keeping out in the open. G-AEUZ was sold to Kenya in October 1952 as VP-KKF.

As always, if anybody can kindly offer advice and information, this will be most welcome. Normally I say that pictures are much appreciated, but do any exist of G-AEUZ here? Worth asking because, sometimes years later, I am sent pictures taken at various locations.
